Recently, we’ve been made aware of a series of scams where individuals are being asked to deposit money in order to secure work, under the promise of reimbursement. These scams are being conducted using our agency's name—Seer Interactive—to gain credibility, but we want to emphasize that these messages are not coming from us, nor are they affiliated with us in any way.
How the Scam Works:
- Scammers often claim to represent well-known companies such as Indeed, Best Buy, Allegis Group, Walmart and others.
- The conversation either start on or quickly move to text or WhatsApp.
- The scammers offer remote positions saying the focus is on data optimization or product optimization.
- The scammers often use fake names such as Miley Madison, Kimmy Middens, or Sadie Rivera are frequently used in these conversations.
Important Facts:
- Seer Interactive will never reach out to individuals via text or WhatsApp for job offers.
- We will never ask you to pay any deposit or make any financial commitment as part of our recruitment process.
- If you’re contacted by someone claiming to be from Seer and they request payment or personal information, it's a scam.
- Seer Interactive is located in Philadelphia, PA, and we do not regularly recruit outside of the United States.
- If you are interested in a position with Seer, all legitimate roles will be listed on our careers page, where you can apply directly.
What To Do If You’ve Been Targeted:
- Stop communication immediately and block the scammer's number.
- If you created any accounts while interacting with the scammer, change your passwords for those accounts as well as any other personal accounts that could be at risk.
- Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on any accounts that do not already have it to add an extra layer of security.
Protect Yourself: Remember, no legitimate company will ask for money to start a job. Always be cautious when dealing with job offers that seem too good to be true, and verify the source before moving forward with any communication.
